Certificate Graduates since 2015:
Who Takes CASE Courses?
Since 2013, over 1300 diverse undergraduates at UCI have been placed locally in afterschool programs to provide mentorship, tutoring, small group activities and staff support in delivering activities to K-12 students.
Most of these students come from the same or even similar low and moderate income neighborhoods being served by the programs learned about in CASE coursework. CASE students have diverse interests-Some are currently employed in afterschool programs, others want to be teachers and some are just exploring the idea of being a teacher. Some have never worked with young people but want to see what it is like. Others want to work in community based organizations that serve young people outside of the school day with new opportunities and experiences that support learning and well-being. All CASE students want to make a difference for young people! |
Throughout the CASE courses, I have constantly forgotten about the value I hold, especially as a community member. As an undergraduate, and soon to be graduate I forget that educators respect what I have to say as I have worked hard to study this passion-provoking major. I want to take this CASE program back to help advance my own community, and create the habit of achievement. This program has inspired me to take advantage of what we have learned and create a space where we can return to our beginnings in efforts to inspire and promote students who unknowingly following our footsteps. -CASE Capstone Student, SP18 |
