Fieldwork for ED 190

UC Links Information for ED 190

4 out of the 5 UC Links programs offer activities related to sports/fitness activities. Information on orientations, TB testing, and hours can be found below. Please be aware that program information may change. Be sure to visit program websites and contact the programs to confirm program details. For more information on these UC Links programs and other CASE approved programs, please visit the fieldwork and UC Links Partner Programs pages of the CASE website.

TB Testing and Background Checks

Most school-based educational settings require that all volunteers be cleared of TB and complete a background check before interacting with children. Updated California laws on TB testing have stated that a TB risk assessment survey can be used to determine whether or not one needs a TB test. According to the UCI Student Health Center, all incoming UCI students are required to obtain a TB screening. Check with your after school site on whether they allow the TB risk assessment prior to taking the TB test. TB test results are good for at least one year.

Although some programs may not require TB testing and background checks for students volunteering only for a few hours, be sure to contact the program director of the program you will be visiting to find out about their requirements.

For more information on locations that perform TB tests and background checks, visit the
fieldwork checklist page.
